I have noticed, at least around here, that there is a strong tendency to regard a person's actions always in a negative light. That is to say, that in a situation where context has not been provided then second parties always conclude that the behavior must source from a desire for personal gain or ill intent.
This happens to be quite regularly. And I have definitely done this myself. But sometime in 2020 I decided that I would not treat people like dirt, that I would give folks the benefit of the doubt and that I would allot just a small amount of trust to others around me, including strangers.
In this way it is possible to build large amounts of trust, and with trust you have a community. And with community you have stability, safety and peace.
From now on I will not presume negative intent. I will, at the very least, presume nothing and give a person just a little space and time to clarify their intent. To allow good will to flourish and to allow we, as beings, to flourish.
